Size and Strength
With a wingspan of up to 7 feet (2.1 meters), golden eagles are built for power and agility in the air. These strong birds can lift prey that weighs between 3 and 4 pounds, carrying it away in their sharp talons—long, hooked claws perfect for grabbing and holding onto their catch.

Keen Eyesight
Golden eagles have incredible eyesight that allows them to spot prey from great distances. Their vision is estimated to be about 4-8 times sharper than human eyesight, which helps them hunt animals like marmots, hares, and even young mountain goats.

Speed and Agility
When hunting, golden eagles dive at astonishing speeds of over 150 miles (241 kilometers) per hour! This speed, combined with their agility, allows them to catch prey with precision.

Courtship in the Skies
Golden eagles perform an impressive courtship ritual. The male drops a rock and then swoops down to catch it in mid-air. If the female is impressed, they mate for life, forming a strong bond and building large nests, called eyries, on cliffs or tall trees. These nests are reused year after year to raise their chicks.
